Bedford Lib Dem spokesperson, Michael Headley has spoken out at Bedford's MP, Patrick Hall's support for ID Cards last night.

Michael Headley said "There is growing opposition to the intrusive ID cards and linked government database keeping personal information on each of us. Many local people will be very upset that our newly re-elected Labour MP is such a supporter of this big brother technology. Not only did he vote to support the bill, he also spoke out effectively asking people to give the technology the benefit of the doubt. This is despite the fact that in the government's own study, one third of facial scans failed."

"Compulsory ID cards and its linked database will once and for all change the relationship between the state and us as ordinary, innocent citizens. I urge everyone to lobby the government and our MP to stop this before there is no going back. "
