Make Poverty History Band

Borough Council Liberal Democrat Group leader, Michael Headley has spoken out in support of the Trade Justice and Make Poverty History Campaigns.

Commenting Cllr Headley said:

"The huge support for the trade justice and make poverty history campaigns have ensured that aid, trade and debt were high profile issues at G8. The decisions made are a very welcome first step, but we must keep up the pressure as there is still a long way to go. In particular trade justice needs to be tackled urgently. It is clearly wrong that rich countries, through measures such as export subsidies, make it impossible to have fair trade."
