Christine McHugh, Liberal Democrat Candidate For The Next Mayoral Election

Bedford Borough Liberal Democrats have selected Christine McHugh as their prospective candidate for the Bedford Mayoral election in 2007. Christine was second in the Mayoral election in 2002, beating both the Tory and Labour candidates but missing out to "Better Bedford's" Frank Branston.

Christine represents the rural ward of Eastcotts on the Borough Council. She is married and works as an environmental consultant.

Christine said, "I am delighted to have been selected to stand again in the Mayoral election and having come second last time I will be fighting to win. These are exciting times for Bedford. It's important that Bedford's Mayor gets the best for the Borough from the government's enforced growth agenda whilst striving continuously to improve the Council's frontline services."
