Michael Headley Has Called For Mayor Branston to Reverse His Decision To Restrict the Pensioner Bus Travel Scheme

Speaking following the Governments announcement on the Provisional Local Government Settlement, Bedford Borough Council Lib Dem Group Leader, Michael Headley, said:

"The big news on the settlement is that it contains over £770,000 for use on the pensioners concessionary fare scheme. This was as we predicted. The Mayor can't now use the lack of funds as an excuse for restricting the travel scheme for local pensioners. I urge the Mayor to act quickly to reverse his current decision and produce a new bus pass scheme without these restrictions."
