Action Required To Tackle Overflowing Bottle Banks

6.21.00pm UTC (GMT +0000) Wed 4th Jan 2006

Speaking following concerns that bottle banks in the borough are overflowing following the Christmas break, Lib Dem Group Leader, Michael Headley said:

"It shouldn't have been a surprise to the council that there would be an increase in bottles after Christmas. Not only are loose bottles unsightly they can become a hazard if smashed. The council should have had procedures in place so that they were emptied more quickly. I will be taking this up with the council. I urge anybody who notices the banks are in need of emptying to report it to the council on 227227. Or from 1st February on 0800 121 8888"
