Boost For Lib Dems Winning In Bedford2.20.42pm GMT Fri 10th Feb 2006
Last night's result in the Dunfermline and West Fife by-election, comes as an added boost to Bedford & Kempston Lib Dems in their progress towards winning next time in Bedford & Kempston. At the 2005 general election Lib Dem candidate Michael Headley secured a 6% swing from Labour, with the Tories practically standing still. Michael Headley said " The result in Dunfermline and West Fife was a sensational Liberal Democrat victory. The result has proved that three party politics is here to stay across Great Britain and people want a better choice than Labour or Conservative. I believe that the appeal of the Liberal Democrats for a fairer, greener and more democratic Britain has growing support." "It would take a swing much less than seen in this by-election for Bedford & Kempston to be won by the Liberal Democrats next time."
