A421 Closed For Resurfacing

12.35.15pm UTC (GMT +0000) Tue 21st Feb 2006

A main road will be closed in both directions during the night over the next four weeks for resurfacing work.

Five miles of the A421 between Marsh Leys roundabout south of Bedford and Salford Lane junction at Brogborough will be resurfaced over the next month.

Work will take place overnight from 2000 GMT until 0600 GMT Monday to Thursday and from 1900 GMT to 0900 GMT on Friday nights.

Drivers are advised that a 45mph speed limit will be enforced 24-hours a day.

The Highways Agency will also be using a new technique to resurface the road which includes reusing the old materials.

"This will help reduce the number of lorries travelling to the site as less raw material will be needed," a spokesman said.
