Lib Dems Launch Candidates1.36.45pm BST (GMT +0100) Wed 4th Apr 2007 Bedford Borough Liberal Democrats have launched their full slate of candidates for the Borough Council elections on 3rd May. Lib Dem group leader Michael Headley said "We have a very strong field of hard working candidates. I look forward to seeing an increasing number of them join us on the council. I am sure many local residents will back our local candidates as well as supporting Christine McHugh as she leads the challenge to be the new Mayor for Bedford Borough." Of particular note, Michael Bonito was a candidate for Frank Branston's Better Bedford Party in 2005 and 2006. Despite being chosen by Better Bedford to be their Kingsbrook candidate this year, Michael has decided that the Liberal Democrats are the party for him. Michael Bonito said "I used to support Frank Branston, but I have become very disillusioned and will be voting for Christine this time because she will speak up for all sections of our community." The Better Bedford website still shows him as their candidate for Kingsbrook this year! However, Michael has been selected to fight Kempston South for the Liberal Democrats this time round. Michael Headley said "We are very pleased to welcome Michael to our team. There will be many people who supported Frank Branston in the past that are switching to support Christine this time as the best choice for the future of our Borough."
