Tories Show True Colours on the Environment - and They're Not Green

Following the comments of the Bedford Borough Conservative Group Leader that "we are being swept along on a fashionable urge to save the environment," Bedford Borough Liberal Democrat Group Environment Spokesperson Cllr Paul Whitehead said:

"When claiming last week that "we are being swept along on a fashionable urge to save the environment" the Bedford Borough Conservative Group Leader showed her party's true colours - and they are not green.

Treating the huge environmental challenges that face us all as 'fashion' represents an irresponsible approach to this crucial issue.

Environmental sustainability must be seen as a priority both locally and nationally, and it is sad that the Conservative Group Leader appears to treat this vital issue with such contempt."
