All Support for Stewartby Chimneys Campaign Welcome

10.41.00pm GMT Wed 28th Jan 2009

As the long-running local campaign to preserve the Stewartby brickworks' historic chimneys and halt plans for a 1200-home development in the village continues, a local Lib Dem Ward Councillor has stressed that all support for the cause is welcome - including the belated involvement of the Tory MP for Mid Beds.

Speaking after a recent local meeting at which Nadine Dorries MP was in attendance, Liberal Democrat Councillor for Wootton and Stewartby Tim Hill said: "It was great to meet the Mid Bedfordshire MP. I welcome her belated involvement in our campaign to keep the chimneys at Stewartby, a campaign that started when the closure was first announced in November 2007.'

"I hope we can now all work together to fight the threat to Stewartby's heritage that this monstrous 1,200-house planning application poses."
